The M.I.E.T. Society, founded by Er.A.Mohamed Yunus and Alhaj S.M.Hassan Mohamed in the year 1984, offers high quality education in an underdeveloped rural and semi-urban region of Tamil Nadu. This society runs the M.I.E.T. Polytechnic College established in the year 1984, the M.I.E.T. Arts and Science College established in 1993 and M.I.E.T. Engineering College in the year 1998 in one campus. The societys members included industrialists, educators and philanthropists.

The Maha Swamiji of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam had cherished a desire to revive Kanchipuram to its pristine glory as a center of learning. The Viswa Mahavidyalaya at Kanchi was established with the benign Blessings of Their Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and it attained the status of Deemed University in 1993.
